What is the Cupix Web App

The Cupix Web App is a browser-based software used to manage, edit, and share 3D tours. You do not need to download software or plugins to use the Web App, and it can be accessed from anywhere at any time as long as an internet connection is available.

After processing a set of  360 photos (we call them panos, short for panoramic photos) or 360 videos, a 3D tour is created and delivered to the Web App ready for you to manage.

System requirements

The web app requires an internet connection and is compatible with Chrome and Firefox.

If you find the web app does not work with the latest versions of Chrome or Firefox, verify that the WebGL option is enabled in your browser settings under preferences.

The Tour Editor and Settings menus have features arranged in a series of tabs at the top of the window.

Tour Editor

This interface provides a set of features to edit 3D tour properties:

  • Overview - organize sections

  • Layout - add floor plans, scale and align sections, measure dimensions, add 3D virtual objects

  • Publisher - arrange comparison lists, publish to the public or Google Street View

  • Review - discuss issues

Settings

All submenus in Settings are also grouped into tabs to help oversee personal, workspace, or team configurations.

Using the GUI

The web app GUI (graphical user interface) is designed to be visually consistent across different windows. This is to help you quickly familiarize yourself with the basic components and easily use other features.

Context menus - hovering over components

When your mouse pointer hovers over certain components, available submenus will appear below. For example, you can use this method to access the submenus of a workspace, a 3D tour, an asset file, or a highlighted pano.

Context menus - clicking the right mouse button (or RMB)

Right clicking on certain components will display available pulldown menus. You can access pulldown menus of individual panos from the floorplan in the layout, a dimension, or a 3D virtual object by right clicking on them. For example, right-clicking on the context menu of a single pano displays this submenu.

Workspace and 3D Tour Structure

The workspace folder

A workspace is a folder storing multiple 3D tours. You can group 3D tours into workspaces based on projects, clients, or organizations. Each workspace can be customized with unique web player preferences including branding, asset libraries, and collaborators.

Elements of a 3D tour

Since Cupix’s 3D tour displays a 3-dimensional space, it needs to be defined in a 3D coordinate system. A 3D tour consists of separate or groups of sections. Each section is able to be independently positioned in space.

For 3D captures of a large site, we recommend dividing tours into several sections to help with processing time and accuracy. We suggest splitting up each level or floor, dividing up large sites, and separating the interior from the exterior of a building into sections when creating a 3D tour. You can combine them in the Layout tab after the server has finished processing the images.

Refer to "Combine sections" for additional details. Sections can be classified as a group in the Overview tab.
